Bolton Remembers the War

Work on the project began in May 2005 and was completed in May 2006. Over 30 people were interviewed and recorded. Many photographs, documents and artefacts were also scanned to be included in the Project’s end products, which include this Website, a booklet and educational materials for local schools.

The original interview recordings have been added to the North West Sound Archive’s collection housed in Clitheroe, Lancashire.

A 34 minute Bolton Remembers the War DVD presentation using voices and images collected during the project is available for loan from Bolton Libraries.

A Big Thank You To:

Everyone who has generously allowed their Wartime stories and photographs to be used on these pages and everyone who volunteered their time and expertise to take part.

Carole Heaton and Jackie Taylor of The Bolton Information Network for the original idea and for their enthusiasm and encouragement.

The Heritage Lottery Fund for funding, support and advice.

Bolton Museum and Bolton Archives and Local Studies Library for their kind assistance and use of facilities and materials.
